Better Poker Rakeback VIP Club Details

are a subsidiary of BetterBet, a new UK business that operates a number of betting shops around the country. Up until July 2008, in addition to a poker room, their online offerings include a Casino and a Sportsbook. Unfortunately, in July 2008, the sportsbook was sold to Stan James - another prolific British bookmaker.
The poker software is a part of the mammoth iPoker network, home to a myriad selection of clients across the pokesphere. A wide selection of tournaments and cash tables is sadly not complimented by a robust VIP system. A cash bonus system fills in for the missing rakeback option, but there is little to no other benefit to progressing through the ranks at Better Poker.
Better Poker DOES NOT offer or allow any kind of rakeback. However, Better Poker offers a VIP club to reward players.
The system itself is divided into five distinct levels. All new players begin in the lowly Bronze level, needing to earn a specific number of points in order to advance to the higher brackets. Although level changes are calculated and actualized in the first week of every month, the way in which the points total is calculated means that new players will have to wait for two months before they can start to climb the ranks

Better Poker Rakeback VIP Levels
The aforementioned VIP calculation is relatively simple, counting your average points total for the last three months, with a weighting on the more recent ones. The formula is:
A = Total points 3 months ago, B = Total points 2 months ago, C = Total points last month
(A x 20%) + (B x 30%) + (C x 50%) = Weighted Points Average
So, for example, if you had earned 8,000 pts 3 months ago, 9,000 pts two months ago and 12,000 pts last month the calculation would be:
(8,000 x 20%) + (9,000 x 30%) + (12,000 x 50%) = 10,300
This would bring you past the the 10,000 point threshold for the Gold Level, despite the fact that your standard average over those three months would be under 10,000. The different strata that can be reached (and the points average required to reach them) in the Better Poker VIP system are:
- Bronze (New Players)
- Silver (2,500)
- Gold (10,000)
- Platinum (25,000)
- Platinum Plus (60,000)
The way in which you earn those all-important Better Points differs very little from the majority of poker sites. For ring games, you earn points every time you 'participate' in a raked hand. What this amounts to is, if you contribute some money to the pot in a hand which is large enough to generate a rake then you will be awarded a certain number of points, depending on the size of the rake taken. This applies even if you put in a bet and later fold, even if that bet was a blind. As far as tournaments are concerned a certain number of Better Points are awarded for each dollar you pay in fees when buying-in to the event.
One of the few benefits you gain from raising your VIP level is the increased rate at which you will generate Better Points. The following tables show the different numbers of points you earn per raked hand, at the different levels of rake and VIP status.

Being able to earn points quicker appears to be the only reward available for those who have toiled to reach the Silver level, although once you reach Gold there are other benefits available. Anyone who averages over 10,000 points across the last three months (according to the formula) will receive a "Loyalty Cash Bonus". This bonus entitles you to receive $10 for every 1000 Better Points you accumulate up to the size of your bonus.
This offer is accessible to players in the Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus stages of the VIP system. You might expect there to be another reward were you to progress to Platinum, but the Loyalty Bonus is still the only benefit available. Although it is worth bearing in mind that the increased rate at which you will earn points should make it easier to claim your free cash.
The select few that amass the huge points sum needed to become a Platinum Plus member should be in line for some altogether more tangible perks. The Better Poker website instructs these glitterati to contact support, or the VIP manager, to inform them of their favorite sports. Although no promises are made, the implication is that they will periodically offer you tickets to the matches and races of your preference.
Although at the very top level there seem to be good prizes on offer, the only real benefit to becoming a regular player at Better Bet is the Loyalty Bonus - which really just serves to cover for the absence of a rakeback program. The Silver Level is almost completely redundant, with only a slightly easier time earning points on offer. Better Poker will need to make playing at their site in the long term more attractive before their VIP system will tempt the dedicated players away from their competitors. Sadly, there is no rakeback system available on Better Poker, but in its stead is a Loyalty Cash Bonus. As long as you earn enough points to reach the Gold level in the VIP system you will be entitled to earn between 20%-30% rakeback equivalent every month.
